Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

Lights On is developed and operated by Steve Frame. By creating an account or using the Lights On app (“Lights On,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Lights On is a relationship-support tool for couples where one partner experiences a menstrual cycle. It is designed to help one partner share a daily signal and receive a practical, approved suggestion the other partner can act on.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using Lights On, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. What Lights On Is — and Isn’t

Lights On is a practical relationship-support tool. It is not:

• A period or fertility tracker
• A medical device or diagnostic tool
• A source of medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
• A substitute for professional medical or mental health care

Lights On is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. If you have questions about your health, please consult a qualified healthcare provider.

4. Accounts and Roles

• Each account is assigned one role at signup: cycle owner or supporting partner. This role cannot be changed within an account — to switch roles, you must disconnect and create a new account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• Two accounts are linked as a couple (“paired”) using a pairing code shared directly between partners. You are responsible for sharing this code only with your intended partner.

5. How the App Works

• The cycle owner shares a daily signal: Open, Check-in, or Space.
• Lights On generates one suggested action based on that signal and relevant cycle context.
• The cycle owner reviews, edits, or rejects the suggestion before anything is shared.
• Nothing is sent to the supporting partner without the cycle owner’s approval.
• The supporting partner may log an outcome after acting on the suggestion.

6. Your Content

• Journal entries are private. They are visible only to the person who wrote them — never to a partner, and never sent to any AI provider.
• Signals, approved actions, and outcomes are shared between paired partners as part of the app’s core function.
• You retain ownership of the content you create in the app. By using Lights On, you grant us a limited licence to store and process that content solely to provide the app’s features to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. AI-Generated Suggestions

After a separate in-app consent step, suggested actions may be generated with the help of a third-party AI provider. The minimum relevant context may include cycle phase, cycle day, a self-reported mood or receptivity signal, a daily note deliberately chosen for sharing, and an approximate city or region. Private journal entries and ratings are never sent to the AI provider. If AI consent is not given or is withdrawn, that information is not sent for AI-generated guidance.

AI-generated suggestions are practical prompts, not professional advice, and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific situation. You are responsible for reviewing suggestions before approving or acting on them.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Lights On for any unlawful purpose
• Share your pairing code with anyone other than your intended partner
• Attempt to access another user’s account or data without authorisation
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the app’s normal operation
• Use the app to harass, monitor, or control a partner without their knowledge or consent

9. Disconnecting and Account Deletion

• Either partner may disconnect the pairing at any time from within the app.
• You may delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app.
• Deleting your account does not delete data your partner has separately retained, such as an outcome they logged before disconnection.

10. Disclaimers

Lights On is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that suggestions will improve your relationship, that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular outcome will result from using it.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lights On and its creators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to relationship outcomes, missed suggestions, or data loss.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, or any consumer right or remedy, where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply to you under the laws of your country of residence.
