Privacy Policy

Lights On is developed and operated by Steve Frame. This policy explains what information Lights On collects, why it is processed, how it is shared and retained, and the choices available to you.

Lights On is designed around a simple principle: your personal and cycle-related information belongs to you, and you control what is shared with your connected partner.

Private journal entries and ratings are never shared with your partner and are never sent to third-party AI services.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to Lights On users worldwide. We aim to follow applicable privacy laws, including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR where they apply. Lights On is intended only for adults aged 18 and over.

2. What Lights On does

Lights On is a relationship-support app. A cycle owner can record cycle information, a daily state, mood signal and private reflections. The cycle owner controls what is shared with their connected supporting partner and can change those settings or disconnect at any time.

3. Information we collect

Account and profile information

• Email address and authentication information
• Internal account identifiers
• Your name and the name your connected partner entered for their own account
• City, region or other approximate location

Cycle and wellbeing information

• Cycle start date, cycle length and period duration
• Current or calculated cycle phase
• Daily mood or receptivity signals
• Optional daily notes or “Words for the day”

Private journal entries and ratings

Private journal entries are strictly private to their author. They are never shared with a partner and never sent to third-party AI services.

Pairing and subscription information

• Pairing codes, paired account records, sharing settings and connection status
• Subscription product, entitlement, status, expiry and app-store purchase status

Lights On does not use advertising or analytics SDKs to build advertising profiles and does not sell behavioural profiles.

We do not sell personal, cycle or health-related information or use it for targeted advertising.

5. Legal basis and consent

Where applicable, essential account and service information is processed to provide the service. Cycle and wellbeing information is processed with explicit consent where required.

Lights On uses a separate in-app AI-consent gate before relevant personal information is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API. If consent is not given, that information is not sent for AI-generated guidance. Consent can be withdrawn through the app or by contacting privacy@lightson.love.

6. What your partner can see

A connected partner sees only information permitted by the sharing system and chosen by you. Depending on your settings, this can include:

• Your current cycle phase
• Your daily mood signal
• A daily note you deliberately choose to share
• Actions generated from permitted shared context

Private journal entries, private notes and unshared signals remain private.

7. Disconnecting

Either person can disconnect at any time. Sharing stops immediately, the pairing ends, and each person retains their own account and private data unless they choose to delete it.

8. Service providers

Supabase

Database infrastructure, authentication and secure data storage.

RevenueCat

Subscription and entitlement management. Cycle notes, mood information and private journal content are not provided to RevenueCat.

Anthropic / Claude API

Daily guidance is generated only after the AI-consent gate. The minimum relevant context may include phase, a shared mood signal, a deliberately shared daily note and approximate city or region. Private journal entries and ratings are never sent to Anthropic. API data is not used to train AI models.

Approximate-location provider

May estimate a city or region from an IP address when a location has not been entered manually. Precise movements are not tracked.

9. International transfers

Some providers may process information outside your country. Where required, appropriate transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards are used.

10. Data storage and security

Lights On uses access controls and Row Level Security intended to isolate each user’s data and limit partner access to explicitly shared information. No electronic system can be guaranteed absolutely secure.

• Access or correct your information
• Delete your information

• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Request portable information
• Complain to an appropriate authority

12. Account deletion

You may permanently delete your account in the app. You may also email privacy@lightson.love from your account email with the subject “Delete my account”. We aim to action verified requests within 30 days.

13. Data retention

Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to provide Lights On, comply with legal obligations and protect the service. Account information is permanently deleted upon account deletion.

14. Automated guidance

AI-generated guidance is informational and supportive. It does not diagnose a condition, determine how someone definitely feels, replace direct communication or replace professional medical or mental-health advice.

15. Children

Lights On is intended only for adults aged 18 and over.

16. Policy changes

We may update this policy and will revise the “Last updated” date. Additional notice or fresh consent will be provided where required.

17. Complaints

Contact us first so we can address your concern. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your competent EU/EEA data-protection authority.
